If your bug gun is a pump-action style gun (e.g., BUG-A-SALT models 2.0, 2.5, 2.6, 3.0 or 3.5; or Bug Slayer model), then yes, it is safe and effective to use as suggested. BugShot ammo is NOT directly compatible with CO2-powered pistols, such as the BUG-A-SALT 4.0 Shred-Er, that use a preloaded ammo cartridge.
We have not tested the safety or efficacy of using BugShot ammo to refill spent Shred-Er cartridges and so we cannot recommend this use. But if you do it, please take all appropriate safety precautions.
No. When used as suggested, BugShot ammo will NOT cause greater wear and tear on your bug gun. BugShot ammo will NOT scratch or abrade the inner plastic surfaces of your gun. Unlike salt, BugShot ammo will NOT corrode the internal metal components (e.g., screws, springs, etc.) of your gun.
No. When used as suggested, BugShot ammo is NOT going to "brick" your gun. If you overfill the hopper, it will prevent the ammo-feeding mechanism (the orange spring-loaded piston) from moving up and down and the gun simply will not work. Follow the troubleshooting guide to resolve the issue.
No. Please do NOT disassemble your gun! If you are experiencing a problem with your bug gun that is not addressed in the troubleshooting guide, PLEASE REACH OUT TO OUR SUPPORT TEAM and we will be more than happy to help you diagnose and resolve the problem.
